Ff is for...

...floss!

Like all of my obsessions, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I love me some floss! Back before I rediscovered knitting, and became the queen of sock yarn hoarding, I was a floss glutton (At one point, I was able to boast that I had every color that DMC had ever made). I have floss, and kits, coming out my ears, and while I may be in retirement before I have time to knit all my yarn and stitch all my floss, I have every intention of eventually getting it all done. Because, like Lolly, I love color. And I think the results are so worth it!

I call this my Millennium Sampler. I finished it late December 1999 after working on it off and on for several years. So I figure I have another hundred years to complete the next one!

That's a beautiful sampler! I have loads of floss, too!

I learned to cross stitch when I was a little thing and loved it. I haven't done it in so long. I must say seeing that little box of colors did put a smile on my face.

Beautiful sampler Leah! I can't imagine how many hours you put into that!

Pretty! I love samplers. I also love to look at the floss in the store those wheels of color all laid out in their own compartments gives me a lift.

Waving hi across the country from another "floss junkie".. how hysterical! I have a couple of those same boxes, and about 6-10 cross stitch projects ready to be worked on.
Just beautiful work Leah - pretty pretty !
So let's see, have you been attacked by the quilting bug as well? :-)

Wow, that is gorgeous -- I don't think I'd ever taken particular note of a sampler before, so that's saying something!

Wow, what an amazing sampler!

What a lovely sampler.

I have a cross stitch stash too, but that particular muse seems to have gone off on a very long trip since I rediscovered knitting. As I've told someone else, though, it can return at any moment, and I've got so many projects I'm good to go!

What a beautiful Sampler. I love samplers too. I did one years ago and will have to take a picture of it one of these days. Maybe when we get to "S". ;) That is quite the collection of floss you have there Leah. :)

So, I'm a little behind in the entry department, but here goes several comments from the past few entries here at Stress Reaction.

Love love the floss, I cross stitched a little but I think I got bored with it. I didn't feel like I was doing anything too useful since I couldn't wear it. I guess fashion came first.

Ok, and I am also so jealous that you hae the pink razor phone. If it goes missing from your house, don't call me....

And, holy crap! That is a lot of sock yarn, but I also prob have close to that much.

Wow, what an amazing collection of floss - seeing this makes me itch to do some stitching again soon, thanks for motivating me with that!
And I do love your Sampler, such amazing work!
Have fun knitting and stitching, and best wishes from Austria!

Mia:

Hey girl.. I'm with ya.. it's all about the colors! I've got those SAMe boxes with all my floss... ALMOST every color of DMC ::laughing:: but I finally got burnt out on all those little x's and took up knitting.. but I've been thinking about going back to cross stitch for a while..

you may have started something here *grin*

Beautiful floss photograph!! LOVE all of those colors ;)
I enjoyed cross stitch so much as a child and teenager, but I have not done it in ages.

Thanks for sharing, Leah!

WOW. That makes me want to learn cross stitch.

Kira:

That is an amazing floss photo at the top. The colours are so beautiful. And of course the sampler is awesome!

I am sure that I did some embroidery/stitching many years ago, but didn't ever get the hang of it. Something about a sewing needle and thread scares me!

Beautiful sampler. I did cross stitch as well, but it's been in hiding for a while. I liked absurdly large and complex projects, and they aren't as compatible with a small child as knitting is!
