If ever I needed proof that I function best under pressure, I have it now.
I have had some big life changes lately, and for a control freak like me, this is major; I left my previous employer of twelve years and joined a new practice. Between the ending of one job and the starting of the other, I have had a bit of a break. A two-week break to be exact.
I don't know about you, but in the day-to-day grind of work, I would often fantasize about what I would do with two weeks off (or hell, even one week off, I'm not picky). Well, very little, if any of those things got done. Motivation was zip, zero, and zilch. I managed to knit a pair of socks and watch about 3 and ½ seasons of Sex and the City. There was no spinning, no yarn dyeing, and minimal knitting; none of the big stuff got done. Nothing organized, dug up and/or planted. Nothing painted, polished or fluffed even. I think the vacuum might have made an appearance once or twice, but all the fancy attachments remained firmly attached.
Blogging inspiration was in the dumper as well, but when my non-blogging, non-knitting friend Terrisa called to see why I hadn't blogged in almost a month and to tell me that she was worried about me, I knew blogging re-entry was overdue. There are sock bags to be sewn. I have managed to narrow my selection of available yarns for Toasty Toes, though pattern choices are still a bit hazy. That's all I have to offer for now.
I do want to thank each and every one of my wonderful cyber friends who left good wishes for the new job, and comments and emails to check on my unusually long cyber silence. You all are the best. Seriously. The absolute best.

I'm glad you enjoyed your break-you deserve it! I've watched Sex in the City about 50 times-love that show.

Fab socks! Very fun, enjoy.
Good luck at the new job! Don't worry about not "maximizing" your time off, as a teacher every summer I think I will get a billion-kajillion things done, but then life happens!

Hee! You're back. Glad to see you poke your head out and say howdy. And see how much I respected the last of your break by not calling? A girl needs to veg and not feel bad about it!

howdy howdy - welcome back. the socks in the sky look fabulous. I must admit that I kept checking your blog every once in awhile to see if there was something amiss with my bloglines feed, yet it hadn't changed - a couple weeks off is good for all of us.
Taking in all the demands of a new job can surely be stressful ~ especially learning all the new cast of characters and their quirks. :-)

Glad to see you're still kicking on the blog. Yes, I know you've left me comments so I KNOW you're still out there somewhere! I hope your two week break was nice and low-stress. Who wants to take a break like that and overwork themselves with the vacuum cleaner? Not me!
I'm picturing myself out in the yard trying to put my feet in the clouds and taking pictures. The neighbors would wonder. Emeline would probably have her face in the photo. heh Maybe I should try it. :)
We were in Norman last weekend on the way back from Texas (Sooner Dairy Lunch was on vacation darnit) and I told my husband "some time this year when you go to a game I wanna bring the girls down and visit my friend Leah!" heh He said "what makes you think I'm going to any games this year?" Yeah right. As if that's possible.

That sounds like a wonderful two weeks! Good for you for doing what you wanted to on vacation instead of what you felt you ought to want to do, which is never fun and restful.
When do you begin the new job? Monday? If so, enjoy these last few days and good luck next week!

Have been thinking about you and thought is was just a super busy time of year. Sometimes the best thing to do is just stare at the wall. It's all good. The socks look great!

Welcome back. Glad to see you are O.K. and that you took some well deserved time off. Sometimes it helps to do nothing --so that you can feel refreshed.
Gorgeous Socks by the way. Makes we want to break out my 2 Skeins of Vera. But I better hold off --Maybe for Christmas I have to many UFOs haunting me right now.
