Yes, This is Still a Knitting Blog!

I've been feeling the call of the lace for a while now. You would think it had something to do with my involvement in the Amazing Lace, but sadly, it did not. There was too much going on when this enticing KAL started for me to participate (though I did sign up), and by the time things settled down, I was too far behind to make even a half decent showing. I was, however, inspired by a quiet yet fierce competition to knit this beautiful shawl. Not as a competitor, mind you. There is quite enough excitement for me in the knitting of this piece of artistry. With KidSilk Haze. On Addi Turbos. Ca-razy!! I know!

But is she not beautiful?

And spinning! There has been spinning! Teyani (and Cheryl, and Deb, and Karen) have been offering some cyber-support and generously providing me with my very own personal spinning companion(s). They so rock. With their expert tutelage and some awesome fiber prep, my spinning, I think, has taken a turn for the better. A T-U-R-N! Get it? I crack myself up!

Much improvement over my less than impressive showing with the merino, no?

Slippery little devil!
(A gold star if you can identify the movie reference!)

Luckily, this is only four of the eight ounces I started with, so I'll get another chance as the spinning skills progress. (Don't you love that note of confidence? Me too!)

Beautiful shawl! What is the pattern?

Slippery Little Devil is from "Pretty Woman" when they are at the shi shi french restaurant and the escargot flies off her spoon and into the waiters hands:)

Crazy is good, right? It's certainly beautiful.

definately a Pretty Woman joke! (and one that I loved!)
Your spinning improvement is incredible. loud applause coming from the West Coast back your way.
cool beans.

Fabulous spinning, I love those colors!

You'll love the Moth. I really do think it's the most beautiful thing I will ever knit!

Damn- you guys are quick! Finally, a question I can answer and you all get it before me.
Very nice spinning. Much better than anything I can do.

Fabulous spinning! It's so much fun to practice, eh? I'm so excited to get the Moth on the needles, too but there is another in line ahead of her. Enjoy it and keep showing her off.

Gracie:

Ha ha ha... a turn for the better...... it really does look beautiful!

KSH is like crack to me. Can't get enough of it and terribly addicting. I love how your shawl looks...it's all soft and fluffy.

The moth will be very pretty in KSH and that particular colorway. Lovely choice.

What pretty yarn! I wish I could do that but I need to stick with just knitting (for now).

Mia:

Oh wow.. what a pretty color combo! I would never have thought to put something orangie with a pinkie color but it works!

Leah! Your spinning looks awesome! You must be so pleased. Yay for you! (insert loud cheering from CT)

And your shawl is beautiful! Great color too. Enjoy your knitting with the crack yarn!

The moth shawl is looking lovely. The color you are using is gorgeous with the pattern. I also love the colors of the yarn you spun. So cheery! (and it's nice to see that there are lots of other knitters out there who love Pretty Woman, too!)

That shawl is so phenomenal -- I can't to see how yours comes out! I love the color you picked.

I don't spin, so I don't really know what to look for, but both pictures of spun yarn above look good to me!

OH! That shawl is delish - I can't wait for sweater weather to get here. It is still a little too clammy for the KSH, etc, on me hands...

Beautiful shawl!! I'm so into lace-that is such a pretty color. Oh and I love your pictures. That's some gorgeous spun yarn.

Kira:

So, now I kind of wish that I weren't knitting the Icarus shawl, because this moth one looks soooo beautiful & more interesting.....

I find Addi turbos & Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud "slippery little devils". Too many stitches seem to have jumped off the needles spontaneously!
