What a pretty cake! It would almost be a shame to cut it (almost).
I tried to email you back from your comment on my blog, but my email is always rejected, so here's my answer to your question from yesterday. I've not attend a Knitter's Guild meeting, but I am somewhat involved with okiefiber. Many of the people in the Yahoo group meet twice a month for a spinning "guild" meeting out at the home of the owner of Mountain View Weavery in Edmond. It's a great group with lots of age ranges from college aged to seniors. That group is responsible for organizing the Route 66 Rendezvous fiber festival in the spring and the Fall Retreat which will happen in October (http://okiefiber.blogspot.com/).
That being said, yes, these are great places to meet and learn. Since I only have experience in the spinning group, I'll speak to that. This group of women do it all, from raising the animals to processing to dyeing to spinning, knitting, and weaving. They love to share their knowledge, so I think it's a great resource. And it's lots of fun, too.
Hope this has been of some help to you, and you should consider coming to the retreat in October. It will be lots of fun!

That's a cake? Looks more like a flower garden to me. It's beautiful. As is your WOTM shawl. Glad to see you were saved from an impending knitting disaster.
