The Plop Heard Round the World

I am in a snit. So before I give away yarny goodness, you all get to hear about why my nose is out of joint.

First, I found a house. I've been looking for about a year now, but this is only the second house I have found that meets my criteria.

It's spacious, fairly new, on two acres of land. The first one I found last year sold before I even got to look at it. This house has been on the market awhile. They want too much for it, especially in this market. I made them a reasonable offer, expecting a reasonable counter. But they want to play games, so I walked away wishing them luck. My plans are now on hold until they wake up or I find another house. That puts me in a snit.

Second reason is this.

This is not good. This, on top of the house thing is really not good.

This happened because I saw a pretty morning moon, shining through the trees. Silly me, thinking that the sheet of ice on the patio, which I have walked across before, didn't have a thin film water on it because the temperature outside is 37 degrees and the ice has started to melt.

The bruise on my butt should be truly impressive by tonight, but the bruise to my beloved camera is much harder to bear.

So now that you have listened to my whining, I will reward you with some yarn. We'll make this an easy one:

** To keep it fair, send your answers to leah@stressreaction.com.**

I am privileged enough to own two spinning wheels. What have I named them?

Everyone who gives the correct answer will have his or her name put into a random drawing for this wonderful prize.

Much coveted, truly lovely, self-striping Vesper Sock Yarn in Sweetwater and a sock bag custom made by yours truly.

The contest ends promptly at 12 noon, central time, Sunday 12/10/06.

nova:

house hunting can be so frustrating...broken cameras more so! i hope the sellers of the house come to their senses and that you can patch up your camera.

Oh Leah, I am so sorry to hear about your incident with the camera:( I hope you feel better soon and that there is hope for the camera to get fixed somehow.

Sadly, I don't know the names of your wheels... Good news is that I have 2 of your sweet sock bags which have served me well:) And I have sweetwater too:)

I know! I know! But that yarn is gorgeous, and I love your sock bags, so I'm going to email you and not leave it in the comments. EEEEE-vil.

Sorry about your camera, and your bruise, and your house. ARGH!! It's been one of those weeks for me, too. Last night I had one of my "special moments" (freakouts); I drank a cold beer while taking a hot bath. It really helps.

Mary:

Ice is evil. I've had my share of bruises when I lived in Tahoe...I hope the camera is repairable.

Oh no! I'm so sorry about the house and the camera! Real estate is a pain in the patootie and I've found people always have an over inflated sense of what their house is worth. If it's been on the market for a while they should wake up and smell the coffee. And the camera? Is it still operable at all? So sorry!

Ow. Just ow.

Hope things look up, and quickly.

Oh, Leah, you poor dear! Your butt AND the camera! OUCH! And if the bruised butt, ego and camera is not enough, the loss of the house.
:)
I suppose duct tape won't help that one, huh?

Ah Leah, I guess the camera is broken and not just bruised? Ewww... poor poor Leah. I would cry, BUCKETS on both accts (the bruised bum and the camera)

That IS an amazing house. Maybe they'll reconsider if they don't get any other offers?

Oh man!!! Sorry about your camera! I hope it's fixable.

Sorry about the house too. There are a zillion out there not overpriced. You'll find the right one.

total bummer ! nose-out-of-joint-and in-a-snit it totally deserved. ugh.
I hope that the bo-boo on your bum is better soon, and that your beloved Nikkon is repaired easily.
Meanwhile - that house is absolutely lovely.... I hope that the owners decide to reconsider your offer.
hmmm - I don't think I know the names of your wheels. ah well. Good luck to everyone else. that yarn is gorgeous.

I know house hunting is incredibly stressful, even more so when you are dealing with such pig-headed sellers. I hope they change their minds, and that you get the house for a fair price. I also hope you can fix your poor camera, and that the bruise on your backside heals quickly. Ouch!

I'm hoping that you are feeling okay -- not too bruised. And as for the house -- maybe they will realize their error and re-engage in negotiations. Or else there *will* be another house.

Ouch. Man. I had a baad bruise on my behind one year when I fell down the stairs of a restaurant, about 12 of them, all the way from top to bottom. But my ego was bruised even worse.

Is this purely a guessing thing, or have you revealed this information on your blog in the past?

I'm so, so sorry about your camera. And the house. And your butt. Probably not in that exact order. All of them sound no fun, though. :(

Kira:

We are there with you in the house-hunting..... Looking for only 5 months though, but there is so little available.

Anyway, we found an over-priced house that we liked, made a much lower offer on a house than the owners thought it was worth, and then walked away when they refused to counter offer. A few weeks later we found THE house, and on the same day that the offer was accepted on that one, the first house owners came back and counter-offered!!! So, they lost out really!!!

Hope that your bruises heal soon!! But that camera :-( so sad....

Oooh, sorry to hear about your camera and your bruise hiney. Ouch. And I don't envy your househunt. Ever consider just building what you want?
