Peace and Quiet

My hubby and the youngest are at the movies seeing Wall-E, and the daughter is at work, so the dogs and I are spending a lazy Sunday afternoon chillin'. With this abundance of quiet time, I found myself motivated to break out the macro lens and take some photos.

I’m still in the groove with the cross-stitch, though having finished one project, I was reminded of a drawback to this noble art. It’s expensive to frame these babies!! Ouch!

Still, I love the stitching.

Have another little piece of my heart now baby (love me some Janis)!

And the macro.

Work on 32-count linen with silk requires (for me) strong light and granny glasses. But the macro lens gives the illusion that I am stitching on a feed sack.

Proof that I have not completely abandoned my first love!

Not so, my friends. This is delicate work indeed.

Yes, the framing is expensive, but you are creating something beautiful and it's worth every penny to preserve it.

It's so lovely.
I figure one of the years I will break out the cross stitch and finish the ones that have been marinating for about 20 years!
framing is totally worth it.

Is that a Shepherd's Bush? Do you know they're friends of mine? You do beautiful work!

The cross stitch is lovely! It must be something in the air (maybe too hot to knit) because I've been working on mine like crazy. I now what you mean about the cost of framing, but I recently came across the following site and am finally going to try finishing some of my stuff a different way. focusonfinishing.wordpress.com

Happy Tuesday! ~S

I really like to look at cross-stitch. There is something about the orderly neat little stitches that is just so soothing.

Pretty. Framing is worth it. I did some finishing work on one of my own pieces. It wasn't too hard. The blocking is simple, the stretching also not too difficult. Mats and frames require more specialization than I have.

I love the 2 pieces of cross stitch I made and framed a good 25 years ago. I don't think even with my glasses on I could do it any more though. Your work is just lovely! I love the little sheep.

So pretty, Leah! I love the muted, natural colors. I used to cross stitch, but I burned out on a big ol' kitchen sampler. Now I just admire other people's work. =)

It's such a delicate art, isn't it? Samplers are so beautiful, and they tell such wonderful stories. The embellished heart is very pretty.

Beth:

Your work is beautiful! I love the colors in it. How did your family like Wall-E?

Lisa:

Beautiful! And I agree with the others that the framing is worth it to preserve your hard work. I have a Shepherd's Bush piece (cool that Margene knows them!) on my wall that I had framed the same way it was done on the pattern. A little more expensive but oh so worth it!
